Launch Party for OldPVD.com

  • What Cheer Writers Club 160 Westminster Street Providence, RI, 02903 United States (map)

OldPVD.com is an historical, architectural and genealogical research site featuring a collection of photos and images of buildings and places in Providence dating from 1636 to the present day. The website is interactive, enabling visitors to upload their own images or to share a written comment or story about what they know.

Visitors to the OldPVD.com can register and participate at no cost, and begin to research Providence’s architectural facts and places marked within the context of historical maps. Visitors can easily add their own place markers and discuss and share insights by typing in comments or sharing stories of their own. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to participate by creating their own “archive” on the site.

Maureen Taylor, The Photo Detective, is the mastermind behind OldPVD.com.

Join us at the July 24th launch party to preview this new website for crowdsourcing local history. Please RSVP to photodetective@gmail.com.
