Smith Hill: Past, Present, Future

  • Smith Hill Library 31 Candace Street Providence, RI, 02908 United States (map)

Join Smith Hill residents and community members for an afternoon celebrating the people who make Smith Hill great.

The event kicks off with a ceremony renaming Candace Street in honor of beloved community member and activist Mary C. Jones, who passed away in 2018. The event will also honor community members who are committed to preserving this historic neighborhood’s memories of people and place, strengthening Smith Hill’s distinctive identity and community fabric, and advancing shared visions of a more vibrant and equitable neighborhood.

Following the ceremony, join for an informal reception inside the Smith Hill Library featuring food, photos of neighborhood history contributed by local residents, and more.
